The Evolution of Painted Shutters

The Evolution of Painted Shutters
The Hunk and I lived briefly in a house just outside of Nashville, TN, our college stomping grounds.  The previous owner left some old shutters in the garage and I LOVED them!  Here’s a pic of them in our TN home.
I moved them to our Vegas casa and have tried them on many walls, in many formats.

Staggered…

Separated, but not as whimsically placed.

When I started hanging my window sign I made, I new I wanted the sign framed by these shutters,
but the deep stained color wasn’t working.
So I got out my creams and whites in my craft paints and played around.
Okay, I admit it… I basically fingerpainted them!
I added some antiquing glaze to give them an old weathered look and distressed them.

I made it a point to weather where hands may have worn away the paint from years of use.

I think it compliments the window sign nicely!

I’ll be sharing up the photos of my faux fireplace soon, so stay tuned!
