Once upon a time, one a chilly Saturday morning, I ventured out to hit a few community yard sales with coffee in hand. I came up to a garage and almost dropped my cherished java.
It was burlap and milk glass yumminess for days!
A sweet little gal was selling leftovers from her wedding that she had just celebrated. I instantly scooped all the goodies up and noticed this window she had leaning up against the side wall.
She used the window as a seating chart for her wedding by putting names on the glass with a paint pen – such a cute idea!
Then I remembered I pinned this sign while wasting time… er, perusing Pinterest and fell in love! Marianne is the creator of Haven and Home blog and is so incredibly talented. You MUST check her out!
everything about this. The verse is one of my favorites. I love painted signs, and the old door!
Oh. My. Word! I knew I could recreate the same verse with this window! I added it to my stash and drove away giggling like a little girl!
Her old paint came off with fingernail polish remover and I gave it a good cleaning.
I played around with fonts and sizes until I found my favorites. I taped the paper template to the back of the glass and went over each letter with a paint pen.
It was difficult with the glass between the paper and the pen, but once I found the ‘sweet spot,’ my eyes stopped crossing long enough to complete the work.
The shutters hanging around the window frame are my old shutters that I distressed. You can read about those here.
A printer and a paint pen was all it took! It hung beautifully over my Faux Fireplace mantel in our old house and just look how it looks now in our new ‘Almost Farmhouse’!
Do you have any old windows laying around? Create your own hand painted sign using printer paper and a paint pen!
Materials I used for this project:
- Printer and a custom saying
- Paint Pen (Craft supplier)
