Are you loving all the buffalo check like me? I see that beautiful red and black plaid everywhere in the stores and I just love the rustic, farmhouse-y feel. It’s such a fun pop of Christmas color.

My front door was in a sad state. I needed a way to create a new wreath for my door, but my budget was running on empty.  Here’s how I made a Buffalo Check Wreath in 20 minutes for only $10.

I was out shopping for stocking stuffers and I came across this wreath form for only $2.97 on sale! I snatched it up and scurried home to make a wreath in record time.

Items I used for this wreath:

  • Square wreath form
  • Buffalo check fabric scraps
  • Velvet bow
  • Leftover greenery and ribbon.

A few weeks ago, I bought a set of Buffalo Check flannel sheets to use as fabric for some Christmas crafts.  From this one set of twin sheets, I have made a Tree Skirt, 6 pillows, and a throw blanket. I still had some scraps of fabric left over I could use as the fabric base for the wreath.  If you don’t have fabric scraps on hand, you could also use Buffalo Check ribbon to make this wreath.

First you wrap the wreath. The tricky part are the corners since it’s a square form. Once you find a method to make sure the entire wreath form is covered, the wrapping process is really quick. Just wrap and go!

Since my Buffalo Check was flannel, it was easy to tie off the ends and tuck them back into the frame.  If you use ribbon, you may have to hot glue the ribbon to make sure it doesn’t unravel.

I used my glue gun to affix the greenery scraps. The red velvet ribbon came with a twist tie on the back. I used it to attach a piece of burlap ribbon to the back of the bow before attaching it to the form.

Don’t you just love the DIYs that are this easy? I was able to get this done in about 15 minutes and it’s just the cutest! Hopefully this gives you an idea to make your own wreath for your front door!
