Astrology blog The Flow has good news for anyone feeling like they haven’t been able to catch a break.
This Tuesday, February 8th at (approximately) 12:24pm, Chiron enters Pisces, and an era of insanity draws to a close.
According to The Flow, Chiron has been in Aquarius since 2005 but then in mid-2009 Chiron went in conjunction with Neptune. Y’all remember the fall of 2009, right? It’s when the economic fall out hit home hard. Things have been a bit screwy since then and it feels like all Hades broke loose in several areas of our society. So what does Chiron entering Pisces mean? Well, The Flow has something very interesting to say about that:
On January 21, 1961, Chiron entered Pisces. It remained there until January 29, 1969. Those 8 years and 8 days changed the world. There are still many people who resent that change, and this has been their last hurrah.
So what happened during this era? Well, let’s see:
- America sends 700 advisers to Vietnam, setting our involvement in the Vietnam war into motion.
- The un-successful Bay of Pigs Invasion of Cuba.
- The Six Days War between Israel, Egypt, Jordan and Syria.
- Mao leads the Cultural Revolution in China.
- Compton’s Cafeteria Riot and the Stonewall Riots set the GLBT movement in motion.
- Gaddafi overthrows the monarchy in Libya.
- Cuban Missile Crisis.
- JFK takes office in 1961 and is assassinated in 1963.
- MLK gives his “I Have A Dream Speech” in 1963 and is assassinated in 1968.
- LBJ signs the Civil Rights Act, The Wilderness Act, The National Voting Rights Act, established Medicare and Medicaid, food stamps and Head Start.
- RFK is assassinated in 1968.
- Construction begins on the Berlin Wall.
- Pope John XXIII calls the Second Vatican Council.
- Malcom X is assassinated.
- In 1961 Russia put the first man in space, and in 1963 put the first woman in space. In 1969 the US would have the first man walk on the moon.
- The Pill was approved by The FDA and had a prominent role in the Sexual Revolution.
- The rise of Second Wave Feminism.
- The Counter-Cultural Revolution.
- The Anti-War Movement begins.
- The Beatles lead the British Invasion.
- Jimi Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane and The Grateful Dead perform at Woodstock.
- Billy Graham and the Maharishi emerge as spiritual leaders.
And that’s just a a brief overview. The 1960’s were a time of incredible change, and modern Paganism certainly rose along with the Counter-Cultural Revolution as a spiritual answer to the industrialized, rigid, and plastic sensibility of the 1950’s.
What will the next decade hold for us? I don’t know but it looks like it will be a wild ride.
