Farewell to Earl Scruggs

Farewell to Earl Scruggs March 29, 2012

One of the most unique musicians of a generation died yesterday. Scruggs was an icon with a banjo in his hand. Part of the legendary duo with Lester Flatt, they defined real bluegrass and took flat-picking to the masses. Scruggs played everywhere, from the White House, to Carnegie Hall, to the country fair the man was universally respected for being one of the truly good guys in the music business. Plus he could flat out play. I’ll never be as good any anything as he was at playing a banjo.

The late great Earl Scruggs
