Stanley Hauerwas on Prayer – a great 2 min. video March 27, 2012

Stanley Hauerwas has made a deep impression on me over the years. My first encounter with him was via Resident Aliens. That was twelve or thirteen years ago. Then came A Community of Character and articles and speeches. I love his sense of humor and how seriously he takes his work. But I think reading his memoir Hannah’s Child forever changed the way I will see the man and his work. That he faithfully lived and cared for a wife who was experiencing bi-polar disease with severe psychotic breaks for 25 years would be amazing enough. But the fact that he did this while raising a son, being involved in the church, and still found a way to write these amazing books speaks to the integrity and depth of character that lay beneath his brilliant mind.
Here’s a couple of moments with Stanley Hauerwas on prayer. As we set our faces toward Palm Sunday, Holy Week, and the celebration of Easter, many of us will be praying more. Dr. Hauerwas gives us a couple of things to be looking for as we do.
