Batman vs Superman (The Gods Are Fighting)

Batman vs Superman (The Gods Are Fighting) December 3, 2015

So there’s a new Batman vs Superman trailer (thanks to Jimmy Kimmel) and it’s kind of got my head in a tizzy. I think there’s still plenty to be excited about, mainly how great Ben Affleck’s portrayal of Batman looks. Mostly his awesome suit, really.

There are three things about this trailer, however, that have me feeling down.

1) It’s very clear that there is a ton of boring-looking CGI action in this movie. Stuff exploding to an obnoxious degree etc. Scenes that end up looking like this:

Also, in a weird move this trailer basically gives away the ending. And that ending apparently includes this guy:

Who is most likely this guy (called Doomsday):

Doomsday is going to be in a movie. What a freaking world we live in. But while I’m excited to see DD on screen, I’m not excited for the likely drawn out CGI battle that he will cause.

2) WB is clearly very concerned about all the Twitter folks griping on about how “dark” the movie looks, so this trailer has a lot hip “quips”. Which isn’t bad, per se, but I was digging the overly serious vibe I was getting from the other trailers (especially the first one). I’m sad to see that this movie won’t be as brooding as I had hoped.

3) From what I can tell, this trailer basically summarizes the entire plot of the movie and gives away what I assume would have been the best moment of the movie. I won’t give it away, but here’s a hint:

There’s also a lot of great looking stuff. For one, I think all the principles look great. I’m especially interested in Eisenberg’s zany looking Lex Luthor.

But the most important shot of all, of course, is this one:

Anyway, here’s the trailer.
