Ramadhan 2016 – Day 14 (Al-Hijr)

Ramadhan 2016 – Day 14 (Al-Hijr) June 19, 2016

quran day 14

The final chapter in the ALR series, Ch 15 (Al-Hijr) starts and ends with Quran. From this, we come to understand that it is about the process of finding and applying Quran. This chapter starts with the ‘qur’anun mubeen’, (15/1) which is a book showing textuality. This book is about becoming whole (by being muslim) which those who reject it will wish for (15/2). Instead, they consume uncontrollably and in the process, the destroy their systems (15/3-5).

From 15/6-9, we come to see the foundedness of ‘qur’anun mubeen’. It is existential, found in the world as adh-dhikr. From this dhikr we extract application.

Part of the process of Quran is understanding the nature of human being, adam. His story is told from 15/26. Adam is shown to be a combination of insaan and jaan. The malaika are told to submit to him and they do, except for iblees (a negative psychological force). The extended dialogue between iblees and Allah shows how iblees blocks the path the Quranprojects. This path is siratun mustaqeem on which I Allah Himself (15/41).

From 15/51 is the story of Ibrahim, who had been sent to the criminal people of luth. They bring Ibrahim the good news of a son (symbolizing a humanising force of renewed energy). They were then to the people of luth who sought after them in order to feel the same humanizing force. However, they could not focus onto the message and as such, became destroyed.

The final prt of this chapter, as has been said above, is to focus on Quran itself. From 15/86 to the end, the process of reading and applying the Quran is explicated. 86 tells us of the personal nature of the rabb (rabbaKA) as one who imparts knowledge and evolves things. 87 tells us that Allah gives the reader a number of the enfoldments (two similar points in Quran in between which is relevant information). This makes Quran strong.  88 tells us about those who get their own interpretation. 89 tells the reader to be  warner. 90-91 tells us not to divide up the Quran nor to take it as something torn up.

In 92-97, Allah tells us to act accordingly and not be disturbed by those who associate or mock. In 98-99, Allah tells us to keep doing tasbih bi-hamdi and to serve him until certainty about our understanding happens.
