Notes from the Road: Public Service Announcement

Notes from the Road: Public Service Announcement July 2, 2016

Munich, North Dakota is charming. Drove past hundreds of miles of beautiful yellow fields and finally learned that they are not, in fact, mustard, which is what one thinks of, but rather canola. So pretty. Would happily dig up my garden and grow canola for the deep rich color.

Anyway, no links today. Didn’t even know it was Saturday at first. Time has ceased to mean anything more than how long I can stave off another loo stop. My little silver Honda Odyssey–which, as we all know, isn’t so much a vehicle as a insulated bubble that requires neither driving, nor thought–gets such brilliant gas mileage that we can’t make it all the way to an empty tank before requiring to, well, you know. I don’t wish to be indelicate.

But what, you ask, is the Announcement? When will the rambling on about the countryside cease? Well, let me tell you, very simply,

I Love You All.

All of you. Anyone who reads this dilapidated, crumb infested, juice soaked, grungy blog. And everyone who so wonderfully said, as I sped past them on what feels like every interstate in the country, “Come and see me!” Or, “Let’s get together!” All of you! I wish I could have stopped! I wish we could have had coffee and even five minutes to catch up on eternity.

Even though we’re seeing People Not Things, we’re still not seeing enough people. And now, of course, once more into the car dear friends, because today is going to be something nigh on 11 hours. Have a lovely day for me, since I will be having some other kind of experience.
