I Home again, jiggity jig, and running around trying to restore order to the general state of chaos. Since we didn’t do a podcast on Monday, I thought I would plunk my talk here. I don’t know if it will be interesting to you, but basically, it’s my version of losing the lawsuit after leaving the Episcopal Church. It includes lots more details about the cat and how it was so cold and how I fried up a lot of... Read more

Apparently I have missed miles of relevant Twitter threads about the Oscars over the last few days. Will Smith hit Chris Rock, some people stood on stage and said “gay” over and over as a way of sticking it to the governor of Florida, only half the people who watched last year bothered to tune in this year, and Amy Schumer said something mean about Kirstin Dunst. All this, of course, is very consequential and I do want to offer... Read more

Oh Look, it’s Friday. One Spring does seem to be trying to bash its way past the winter up here in the Northeast. It’s also trying to destroy all the human inhabitants, inflicting ear, nose, and throat trauma on all and sundry. I’ve never been one for allergies, but I’m giving in and having them like everyone else. Doesn’t do to be left out. Two I just happened to skim through this interesting thing about gaining a lot of weight... Read more

Totally meant to blog yesterday but got distracted doing other kinds of work. So this morning I will do this first before I do other things. Also, it is gray and rainy and I’m pretty sure I can take a walk tomorrow. So this seems to be an exciting week. There’s lots going on out there. But first, I forgot to link this podcast I did about Lent. The article will be along at some point. It’s not too late... Read more

I’m trying to get up to speed on the Daily Affirmation trope that seems to be more and more an assumption among many people online, and probably in person. In the desultory way I have, I’ve been clicking on a lot of those 2 to 3-hour Affirmation loop videos on Youtube, along with reading lists is Daily Affirmations. My favorite, though, are the TikTokers who literally give you one single affirmation you’re supposed to say for the whole day. Some... Read more

We’ve got to rush off into the day but we did pause for a decently lengthed podcast about whether or not to believe women, the gender binary, Russia and Ukraine, John MacArthur, Biblical Justice, and the death of our cat. It’s pretty much the usual fare, so I expect it will set you up nicely for the week. I don’t know if we’ll be able to record next week, because I have a thing, but if we do it will... Read more

It’s still morning! I can totally think of something to blog about in ten minutes. I must say, I am overwhelmed by all the news. Yesterday in between all the real tasks of life I scrolled past outrage over various items of note among all kinds of people. There was the Christianity Today stuff. And the surrogacy stuff with what’s his name and his person. And then Ukraine, of course, and what else? All the controversy about that Red Panda... Read more

In the annals of Daylight Savings ruining my life, I thought this news item was probably pretty important: Victoria Beckham 'puts family first' after Cruz's split from girlfriend❤️https://t.co/KRs68Y05m8 pic.twitter.com/0p3rh1fsYW — OK! Magazine (@OK_Magazine) March 16, 2022 I have a lot of problems with this moment in history. The first problem is that OK Magazine said I couldn’t read the article because of the country I live in. So I had to scroll through and read all the tweets. The second... Read more

Well, I hate daylight savings. I mean, I like the arrangement of the hours this way better than whatever it is we have endured all winter, but I hate having to switch the clocks around all the time. Unless we’re going to have rolling blackouts or something, which I suppose could be a distinct possibility, I don’t know why the world has to continue with this charade. Vast swaths of humanity having to suffer what amounts to jetlag every “spring”... Read more

It is a bright, sunny, warm day here in the Northeast, and we are staggering around trying to cope with the lost hour of sleep. To mark the occasion we have done a decently lengthed podcast (including both shouting and technical trouble) about the ACNAtoo issues in our denomination. We read a big portion of the letter that was released yesterday and comment on it all in the usual way. Before that, we briefly talk a little bit more about... Read more
