This is a doozy of a weekend (and why I couldn’t rise up to the level of book notes yesterday) for reasons among which are the fact that summer Sunday school is over, and that means that Catechesis of the Good Shepherd kicks off today. I’ve written a lot about CGS over the years because it’s my favorite thing. But in case you’ve forgotten, or weren’t paying attention, here are three reasons I love it and why you should do... Read more

Well, can you believe it, it’s Friday. One I am deeply regretful about my social media life this week. I was not able to keep up. I noticed that many interesting articles and pictures were filling all the spaces–blog posts, in fact, by people I know and like and wanted to read–but the moment I would go to touch the screen, Facebook would refresh itself and everything would disappear. Then I had to stop and consider, do I scroll and... Read more

[This cat has no sense of humor, which is a problem for all of us.] Sandra Boynton has another album out, or almost out. Scroll down through the whole article to see BB King singing The Song of Sunday Morning–I can’t find my other shoe. I mean, that’s not what the called is actually called, but somehow the words coming out of King’s mouth are the exact replica of every single Sunday morning for me for the last fifteen years.... Read more

[This cat cares nothing about my writing life, nor about the cheese cauliflower.] I was combing through my archives trying to find something old and not terrible to post today, because I’m supposed to be working on something else, but I couldn’t find anything that didn’t make me gag. Boy I am wordy, and rambling. I started blogging every day a couple years ago to make myself into a better writer. I figured the internet was full of garbage anyway,... Read more

In a world where you are supposed to control everything--your car, your house, yourself, your facebook feed, the way you see yourself, the way other people see you--how do you control the outcomes of child rearing? Because that's what we want to be able to do. Read more

Good Moaning. It’s a cold gray day, fitting for work and probably also sadness. So we did up a podcast about anxiety, worry, and the politics of women’s ordination. Matt, as usual, is probably offensive, whereas I am a cheerful butterfly of cheerfulness. Enjoy! Not too many links because I didn’t have time to read the internet much his week. This is really good. I couldn’t agree more. When famous people turn to blogging. I’ve already linked to something about... Read more

There are two ways to approach fall. One way is with gratitude, a subject I have been reading a little bit about. Grateful people, apparently, are healthier and better. Whereas ungrateful people are sick, and probably poor as well. If you can, so I’m reading, you should try to be grateful, not only for your health, but because your Christianity, if you have any, demands it. It is very hard to argue with this line of thought. There are bible... Read more

Friday Takes! It’s what you get and no whining about it. One This is so funny. Truly, I am a Twitter lurker, and this is the kind of reward that make my social media life worth living. And you were wondering whether we should educate the women…Yes! Yes we should, because lots of them are on Twitter just saying all the things. Truly, moar and better education for everyone. Two I said as much over here at inAllthings. The other... Read more

But you know, if you gave me a million bucks, and I got my hair, teeth, and nails done, and I had a Personal Assistant, and suddenly all my kids were dressed in perfectly torn designer jeans, I might suddenly feel a lot more competent, and more deluded about the kind of person I am, and I might think, 'you know what would be great... Read more
