Good Moaning. I am afflicted with a rich and bubbly cold, because of course. But I did pull myself together and agree to a podcast. Matt has been wanting to have a few words about the ACNA Provincial Assembly and boy did he have them. Actually, I had a few words myself, with a side of coughing and children screaming in the background. Hope you enjoy it! And now, let me see, I think I am well stocked with links.... Read more

What sort of person would you be, if you never had to suffer? What kind of compassion would you have, if you never endured pain? Read more

I’ve started a little collection for myself of ridiculous things people say in complete seriousness on facebook and twitter. I’m not keeping names attached to them, and I don’t know if I’ll ever curate them into anything, but collecting is a basic human property, and this collection will take up less space than shoes or silver spoons. If you want to send me gems, like stamps, I welcome all contributions. In the meantime, here is a nice paragraph, from Rebecca... Read more

It’s Friday! That’s Takes! One We’ve been having a lovely, languid first true week of summer with grandparents and outings, with weather mercifully cool for those who had been hoping to escape the heat of Texas for a short time. Indeed, there’s even been rain–such a treat…for them. In the most givingest way I have put my bitterness about any temperature below 90 on hold while they’re here. It’s actually very pleasant to sit on our grand porch and watch... Read more

We’re off to Cooperstown for the day and my mind has sort of hit a brick wall, if you hadn’t noticed. It was bound to happen. I’m probably going to take a real and proper blog holiday at some point in the next few weeks, and not even plague you with this fascinating place holders. I’m just not sure when. And we’re definitely going to do a podcast, just as soon as Matt can talk without a raw scraping feeling... Read more

Here’s something to brighten your day while I go do some less cheerful things like dig out my bedroom and make the children be who they ought to be. Enjoy! Read more

I went through my archives hoping to find that I’d already written something fascinating about Independence Day, as I’ve been told I ought to call it–the 4th of July being too flip an appellation, apparently. But for whatever reason, in spite of writing reams and reams about practically every other holiday, all I’ve ever done is gotten on and said ‘hello,’ with a side of ‘today we’re driving through such and such a town.’ July seems to be the month... Read more

Matt woke up with a bad sore throat so we’re going to postpone our weekly podcast until he can talk more comfortably. Panicked now that he and everyone is sick or going to be sick which means I will definitely be getting sick which will be the worst thing ever. Or maybe just the usual thing. Anyway, most all the world has a holiday today so you should be outside gardening, not reading the Internet. Just like me. I won’t... Read more

We at Good Shepherd have been going through Hebrews pretty methodically for a while now. I think we’re in chapter nine or ten or something. The author has been detailing, some might feel belaboring, the Temple furniture and the work of the priest. For one so far removed from the system of sacrifice, it’s easy to sit back and wonder what the big deal is. Why go on and on about it. We all get that Jesus died on the... Read more

So busy hiding stories about that baby that’s going to die from all my feeds that I haven’t had time to read any books or anything. I know, I made a big fat announcement last week about all the reading I was definitely going to do. But that’s the way of it. That which I want to do I can’t possibly do because of all the other things I have to do. In this case, besides hiding from the news,... Read more
