After writing that complaining post about being so tired I came into the true knowledge that I was actually coming down with something. Matt hauled me to a walk in yesterday where, with what seemed like ice age glacial slowness, someone who apparently bore the appellation of doctor gave me something to completely mask the sensation of actually being sick. So I’m going along with that. Hopefully whatever it is will quietly go away while I carry on in this... Read more

One Woke up to the sound of torrential, pounding rain and what I thought was a cat screaming just outside the window, but it turned out to be Marigold snoring in the next room. An hour later got a weather alert on my phone that heavy rain was expected. Up to the moment information, or something. Thought about trying to continue to sleep but Matt was up with his super happy morning cheerfulness and I realized I might as well... Read more

I had the pleasure of lying around most of the afternoon, yesterday, watching exactly the kind of television I would watch all the time if I were allowed to lie around watching TV, and that is stuff about houses, mostly where people go around looking for new houses to buy with their piles of money. I love this kind of TV because it's basically consequence free judgement. You can lie back in total comfort and judge other people without them... Read more

Carrying on, even in this time of holiday, indulging in lunch rather than supper. Have tried calling it Dinner but nobody really can. A lifetime of not calling anything Dinner is too strong a prohibiting force. Neither have we adopted Elphine's suggestion of Dunch. That is worse than anything. I personally have fallen into calling it Luncheon. It's not like we're just quickly eating lunch, throwing together a sandwich or something. No, we're actually stopping everything, and sitting around, and... Read more

Here we are comfortably settled into an apartment like hotel arrangement with a kitchen and two bedrooms and a huge pull out couch and a hoard of children who can't stop whining and crying. I'm not very good at letting children know what's coming in the future. In fact, as a general rule, I try to give as little information as possible about the future because, not myself being God, if I say that something is going to happen, and... Read more

Gladys and I missed church yesterday. I know this does happen periodically to the vast majority of all Christian people world wide. A person can't go to church every single Sunday because sometimes a person gets sick, or has a ton of babies, or has to travel, or, well, I don't know. I hear all the time about how people can't be in church because of various mitigating factors. And I usually just nod my head and keep making coffee,... Read more

True happiness abounds on all sides. Children all over the face of this house could be heard playing well into the night, even when admonished to Go To Sleep. And it seems these same children have awoken in the bright early dawn to resume the joyful delights of playing with other people's (their cousins in this case) awesome toys. As I lie here I have put a sparkly star in one child's hair, and been called to look upon a... Read more

I should be leaping up and running around packing us up for the last leg of wending our way south. Today isn't very long, three hours, four if we have feel like taking it slower. I guess? Like driving way out of our way for no reason? So far we have already had a marvelous time and, from the weeping and sobbing of the little girls late last night when they remembered our dog, and wondered if they would ever... Read more

Is it already Thursday? Or is it only Thursday? Yesterday we were in the car about twelve hours. Expected the children to be perfectly awful but I think we successfully demoralized them enough that they gave up and stopped complaining. Sort of. Unlike the previous long drive, where I thought lots of interesting things about the scenery, this time I didn't think anything at all. Well, I did, but I don't think there's a great fascination in counting dead animals... Read more

The landscape down here in the south is so exotic. I think this every time we drive rapidly by, not taking time to see Tennessee, ever, or Alabama or Louisiana or anything, always rushing desperately to Texas as fast as we can. The great tall vine covered trees, the seemingly low lying hills, the rich variations of green and light, I always wish we could stop and look at it all a lot longer. On the other hand, Texas. Oh... Read more
