“You are gods”

What did Jesus mean when he quoted Psalm 82:6 “I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.”

Are human beings in fact gods? Although some might agree with the basic tenet that you are gods. I do not believe that many people understand what that truly means. Without a true understanding of the real nature of what we are, what is a positive attribute can become a very negative one. What I mean by that is when the ego personality believes itself to be superior to others, true vision is overshadowed by this false belief.

In modern times there is a condition that exists that is characterized by an inflated sense of self-importance, a need for admiration, an extreme self-involvement, and lack of empathy for others. That condition has been labeled as a Narcissistic personality disorder.

In the book Prophet or Madman, I described the anatomy of the soul and said that everyone was created in the image and likeness of the Father. By that I mean, just as it was said that God exists as three parts existing as one, so too, it is with the souls that God created. Each exists as three parts consisting of the core or I am, the ego and the spirit. When it was said that you are gods, what was being stated was referring to the creative aspect of the soul and not the ego personality.

While viewing things from the position of the ego personality everything is seen from a positional and relative view. If that view creates the false belief that you are smarter, stronger or more important than others, you would be a good example of someone that could be labeled as having narcissistic personality disorder. On the other side of that coin, if you see yourself as a human personality but you feel you do not measure up some how, you could be described as having an inferior personality disorder. As I see things, both states are equally destructive and equally capable of keeping you from experiencing or seeing your True Self. The True or Authentic Self of which I speak, is the Awakened Spiritual Self. Being that God alone exists and everyone is an aspect of God, each is endowed with creative powers and this is why it was said, “You are gods.”

When God created Creation, God did not pick and choose the special ones that would be above the rest. From the awakened state there exists a recognition that all are equal with no exceptions. What has confused things since the beginning of time is that from the ego view there exists degrees and levels where lower vibrations look at higher vibrations as gods. This is so not only in this world but also throughout the various dimensions.

Regardless of your path or what religion you practice, if you wish to awaken yourself and live awakened in this world you may find yourself reinterpreting your view of reality itself!
