That Christ May Live in Me: A Retreat for Young Women

That Christ May Live in Me: A Retreat for Young Women 2015-05-01T20:49:45-04:00

When I was discerning my vocation I had the opportunity to get away for a few retreats. I can pretty safely say that without those retreats I would not be in the convent right now.

Do you know any young women who are discerning God’s will for their lives?

Are you a single young woman who is interested in discerning God’s will for your life?

If so, this is a fantastic opportunity to get away and give God some quality time to speak to your heart.

The Daughters of St. Paul are holding a discernment retreat from July 16-20.

This is not a “recruitment” retreat. We are not going to hand young women applications to enter the convent at the door, (that’s not how we roll anyway). This retreat is a general discernment retreat and is appropriate for any young, single women who are in the midst of discerning how God is speaking to their hearts.

This is an opportunity to get away. An opportunity to be silent. An opportunity to listen. An opportunity to show God that he is the center of your life.

The retreat will be at our St. Thecla Retreat House in Billerica, MA. If you go, be sure to take a leisurely walk by the nearby horse farms, or, if you are daring, hike through the woods to the nearby lake. It is a wonderful place to make retreat, I will be making my yearly retreat there this year!

What to expect: Daily Mass, Morning and Evening Prayer, Confession, Eucharistic Adoration, personal prayers time, retreat conferences and one-on-one spiritual direction with a sister.

I have been to retreats led by Sr. Margaret Michael. She is our Staten Island-born, rapping sister who loves to cook and is full of the Holy Spirit. As I write this, I am starting to wish that I could go myself…

If you are not a young woman, but you are thinking of some young woman you know who would be interested in this, then please forward this information to them. And if you are able, please consider sponsoring the cost for them to make it. Discernment requires pausing our lives and it often requires travel (to different convents and to retreats like this). Not everyone can afford to do this, so if you are able to help a young woman in any way to make it to this retreat, please do!

For more information or to register, please contact Sr. Margaret Michael at [email protected] or 703-549-3806.

We hope you can make it!
