When God the Father Intervened in a Dream

When God the Father Intervened in a Dream December 12, 2017

The other night, I had three dreams in a row tied around the same weird, creepy man; a man who acted like he was full of knowledge, but was likely some sort of false prophet. It ended with an unexpected cameo from God the Father Himself, encouraging me to confront the intruding stranger and deal with him accordingly.

The Strange Dream Trilogy

First, I went into an underground chamber where this man was giving a lecture on the Harry Potter universe, and sharing supposedly secret facts that fans were aching to learn. I journeyed there with my high school best friend, who, like me, is a big Harry Potter fan who loves to delve into the hidden knowledge of the series.

(Fun fact: According to the Pottermore site Sorting Quiz, which tells you which of the four Hogwarts Houses you’d fit best with, I fit best with Ravenclaw, the House associated with the pursuit of knowledge and wisdom. That might explain why, in this first dream, I blindly went to this man to find more knowledge on a series dear to my heart.)

I think I woke up momentarily after this dream, only to quickly fall back asleep and find myself in a car with this same man, as he evidently drove from the state of Florida all the way to my home up north. This time, I was joined by my college best friend in the backseat alongside me. She and I both discuss our dreams with each other frequently, especially the matter of hidden messages, and upon seeing her, I managed to instantly realize that I was dreaming again.

After she asked me who the mysterious man was, I told her that I was refusing to travel alongside him, as I suspected that his intentions weren’t benevolent. I made myself wake up, and only a few seconds after I had, I fell back asleep.

Instead of returning to that car, I was now back in my bedroom, and acutely aware that this man was lurking somewhere in my house.

At that point, I was rightly unnerved, because whoever he was, he seemed to be some sort of stalker. I freaked out until, to my shock, God the Father manifested next to me as a wise old man, which just so happens to be a recurring archetype, one referred to as a personality full of holy power.

God assured me that He’d help me find this creepy man and help me kick him out. Together, we first investigated the bathroom on the upper floor. The shower curtain was drawn across the bath, which is, of course, a common setup in horror scenes for the killer to pull a sneak attack. God urged me to yank the curtain back despite my terror, and when I did, I saw that there was nothing there.

He then led me downstairs, and there we found that creepy old man standing in the kitchen. At that point, with God standing beside me and my fearfully dissipated, I screamed at the man to get out of my house, and that’s how I remember the third and final dream ending.

Who Was that Man?

Dreams by definition aren’t “normal”, but for the same man to appear in three succeeding dreams is even more abnormal than what dreams usually put me through.

Of particular concern to me is that this creepy dream man went from serving as a misleading man of worthless knowledge to a home intruder and that God knew that He had to come to help me kick the invader out. That tells me that the threat the man posed (or signified) was significant enough that the Father didn’t hesitate to materialize beside me.

In my search for an understanding of what this man represents, I glanced over web resources on dream interpretation. A basic interpretation of somebody breaking into your house is a sense of feeling “violated”.

Do I honestly feel violated? Well, no. I am, however, often worried that I’ve made vital mistakes based on my own understanding of things. It’s something I don’t like to admit, because for anybody, owning up to your own mistakes is incredibly unpleasant. In fact, that brings to mind the Bible verse my daily Bible app delivered to me this morning:

“Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.”

Proverbs 3:7-8

Many times, I do feel like I need some warmth in my life. After all, I’m a lonely gay Christian who worries about the lack of romantic love in my life. If the man who God and I booted from my house was us removing a block in my life preventing me from accomplishing my goals in that area, then I’m quite excited to see what happens next.
