Quis ut Deus?
I received this lovely, completely handwritten card from an old high school friend of mine, a fellow Christian whom I told about my plan for Lent. She went out of her way to find what might be the perfect Bible verse I need while I go about confronting the burdens of my past mistakes in my college years, especially withholding forgiveness from the people who hated me.
“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”
Galatians 5:1
It’s just as the verse says; I can’t let myself be burdened any longer. I can’t enslave myself to regret that’ll prevent me from properly moving on.
I’m thankful for the timing of this verse, and the love of my friend, whose gesture I greatly appreciate. Happy Valentine’s Day, everybody. I sincerely hope that your day was one filled with endless love! And on this Ash Wednesday, may we all be grateful for the constant love that God never ceases to give us.
Years From Now
I’m happy that I took another look at this old blog post, four years after I wrote it.
For Lent 2018, I told my beloved friend that I wanted to let myself be free of the burdens I carried as a college student, especially the ugly memories of the nasty experiences I had.
After entering a new chapter of my life in 2022, I’m grateful to have read this again.
