75 Women of Color Judges To Consider for Supreme Court Nominees

In case you are convinced that Judge Brett Kavanaugh was the best of the best of the best possible nominees the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS), I am here with seventy-five reasons to invite you to reconsider your opinion.

I present these reasons, in the form of Women of Color who serve as federal judges, as a matter of principle, not politics.

As a SCOTUS nominee, Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s dishonesty about a range of matters while under oath  and his temperament during the job interview provided sufficient grounds for concern.

Even if Dr. Christine Blasey Ford did not come forward with sexual assault allegations, these issues had enough weight to prompt searching for another candidate.

As with the game of politics, shoulda turned into woulda, coulda, and didn’t.

Therefore, I have created a non-exhaustive list of  seventy-five Women of Color who serve as active Article III federal judges  with potential for SCOTUS appointments.

These judges were confirmed during Republican and Democratic presidencies.

In other words, no matter where you politically stand, I believe it is possible to find at least one Woman of Color with the inner fortitude to demonstrate integrity and respect during a job interview for the Supreme Court of the United States.

Likewise, I presume the existence of at least one Black woman who possesses both temperament and jurisprudence suitable for the High Court of the United States.

The practice of over-scrutinizing Women of Color, particularly Black women, while having far less scrutiny over White men, like Judge Kavanaugh, and women in the workforce, is a way unconscious biases can turn into discrimination. Does the phrase “last ones hired, first ones fired” sound familiar?

Although an appointment to the SCOTUS does not require federal judicial experience, I provide the following list to broaden our perspectives about the availability of high quality candidates among active federal judges.
