More editing on the book today.  (It finally has a name!) I just need my hair out of my face, so I did a little flip-through pony. I’m a little shocked at how gray my hair is here.  Which makes tomorrow HAIR COLOR DAY!  Nothing fancy or exciting, just a nice warm caramel-y brown. Read more

I’m late today due to an unfortunate dirty baby fingers in the hair accident This led me to going  natural today. I washed it, scrunched it, and let it dry in its own natural waviness. Here’s a pic of me and the dirty fingers girl! Read more

Did you watch the Inauguration yesterday?  Me neither.  I forgot that it was happening.  It’s been a busy few days. This morning, as I flipped quickly through still shots of the ceremony, I gasped.  Have you seen the picture of Justice Scalia?  More importantly…did you see his hat? If you’re not Catholic, it may look like just some weird hat.  If you are, it may look a little familiar.  It should. It’s a custom made replica of this hat.  It’s... Read more

***More on dealing with family and their reactions to your homeschooling decisions.  I’m assuming that your family is not insane.  If they are, God bless you.  Nothing can help that but time and prayers.*** For many years, my mother-in-law was adamantly opposed to our decision to homeschool our children.  Nothing we could say or do in those early years seemed to make a difference to her. She tried to reign herself in, but it was obvious that she had taken... Read more

I’m cleaning up the aftermath of the weekend that was, and I’ve opted for back and out of the way with a simple French braid. No makeup this morning, but definitely jewelry.  We’re not barbarians! I learned how to French braid my own hair in high school.  It took half a day on the couch with a brush, suitable snacks, and hours of soaps to watch.  I’m still not perfect at it.  The scruffy ends stick out all over the... Read more

We had a play date last week with a neighbor and her only child. (I don’t usually care about that, but it’s important here.) The child wasn’t quite up to his usual standard of energy, and seemed just slightly off. “What’s wrong with him?” I asked his mom. “He’s had a stomach bug for the last two days, but he felt a bit better today and I didn’t want to disappoint your children by cancelling.” She continued on to tell... Read more

A night of puking children–and no Mass today because of it –means I almost caved and went back to my old standby.  Since I took the No Ponytail pledge, I opted for Pocahontas braids instead. I look exhausted.  I think it’s time for a nap. Read more

It’s Saturday–which means errands–which means I need my hair up and out of my face.  I really wanted a ponytail this morning, but opted to try a scarf bun instead.  I’m kinda digging it! I love colorful scarves! I like the added color, and the weird fiunkiness of it.  I will definitely do this again. In other hair news, my favorite blonde daughter is now a redhead!!!! Read more

Day 4 and a bit of half up half down.  I’m not sure it’s my favorite, but mostly because I couldn’t make it look exactly like the picture of the lady on Pinterest who said “It was such an easy style.”  Maybe if you’re not hair-challenged, it is. The only bobby pins I found were for my daughter’s blonde hair.  I need to go shopping My inspiration. Read more
