This is a guest post by the amazing Leticia Ochoa Adams, who I had the good fortune to meet at Edel in 2014, and I’m honored to be able to call my friend. When I asked if she wanted to guest post here, I was overjoyed that she said “Yes!” I hope you enjoy her post, and that you go check out more from her at her blog I seriously need a 12 step program to help me get past... Read more

I know a lot of people who swear by Spring Cleaning, but around here it’s tine for our traditional School Starts in Two Weeks and Mom’s Losing It So We’re Purging and Organizing Extravaganza. (SSITWAMLISWPAOE isn’t really shorter, is it?) Every year I convince myself that this year I’ve found the secret to how to make this work and stick, and this year is no exception. I jumped on the bandwagon with everyone else, and read my way through that Magic... Read more

Does anyone know Kiran Gandhi? Have you even heard of her? She ran the London marathon back in April to raise money for breast cancer. It wouldn’t be too newsworthy except that she decided, in what she says was a last minute decision, to run it while her period blood ran down her legs. She was making a point. Raising awareness… Because of course she was. Nobody wants to actually solve problems any more. They all want to “raise awareness”... Read more

Heading home from Portland, and bringing you the last guest post for this go-round. Please say hi to Kim, and then head over to her blog and check out some more of what she has to say. I remember from my parents’ era that the best part of waking up was Folger’s in your cup. (If you’re over the age of 35, I’m sorry for embedding that jingle in your head.) Coffee and the morning newspaper were simple essentials for... Read more

While I’m in Portland recording new episodes of The Visitation Project, I’ve invited some bloggers to step in and take over Shoved to Them. Today, I’m handing it over to Holly from Fine Linen & Purple. Hello! I’m so glad to be here in Rebecca’s neck of the woods today.  I normally can be found over at Fine Linen and Purple  where we talk a lot about Faith, and also about fashion.  We also host the long running What I... Read more

**I’m traveling again – this time to Portland, OR to record more episodes of The Visitation Project.  I’ve invited some of my favorite bloggers to fill in while I’m away. First up is Rosie Hill. Check her out over at A Blog for My Mom We’ve had a rough lot of days lately. I can’t keep an eye on these kids 24 hours a day, and I think their guardian angels may need a little extra help, too. So Lord?... Read more

The people in front of us scooted over in the handicapped pew in Mass this morning  to make room for a tiny, stooped, elderly woman with a walker. Her daughter guided her carefully to the front of the church and moved the walker out of the way.  The people in the pew started to move down further so that she could sit when she turned to leave. The Mother’s arthritic hand fluttered outward in the direction of her middle-aged child, and her faint whisper... Read more

Last Saturday, Ella competed in the Life Goes On skating competition in Venice Beach, California. It was her first time to compete at the professional level in WCMX, wheelchair skating. She was the youngest competitor by far, and since WCMX doesn’t segregate contests by age, sex, or physical ability; that meant that she was up against adult men and women. You can either hang, or you can’t. I love that. The other competitors are familiar names and faces to us... Read more
