Jumbo(Tron) Hot Dog

Jumbo(Tron) Hot Dog
As you grow up, you kinda hope you outgrow some things. Certainly not comic books or shoot-em-up movies but the things that really hold you back, like life’s most embarassing moments. I have a list about a mile long and I almost added a biggie the other night. LeAnn and I were at the Casting Crowns and Leeland concert at the UCF arena (nice place by the way). We had rushed to get there so we could do the backstage thing before the concert and I went straight from work so there was no supper. When I got there, I was hunnnngry.

After Leeland played, videos begin showing of a missions trip and if you’ve been to these concerts, you know they normally precede the intermission, so I hopped up and headed to the concession stand before the crowd. I purchased a jumbo hot dog and a cup of very delicious fries. I thought I might eat them out in the hallway but decided to join LeAnn back at our seats since it would be intermission. I sat down, the videos stopped playing and Casting Crowns started their set. What?

So I’m on the second row right in front of the stage with a super size meal. People around me are waving their hands up, worshipping, singing along and I’m wondering how I can devour my food incospicuously. I was a little sensitive to the idea that someone would point and say “hey, lookit that big fella’ chompin’ down that hot dog,” especially since all the eyes were up front. I managed to secretly eat the fries, debating whether or not to hold the other hand up for worship to blend in. I kept eyeing the hot dog. Mmmmmmmm. It was on my seat behind me as I stood. Mmmmmm. I grabbed it up and started to open the package. Maybe not. Too much action going on. I sat it down.

Within seconds, a cameraman came moving down the aisle, doing a close-up of the first two rows with hands up and singing for the arena. There we were, LeAnn and I, in jumbo-tron glory for everyone to see. All I could think about was how incredibly close I came to staring at the crowd of thousands with a hot dog hanging out of my mouth. Thank God for small miracles.

Here are some shots of the night, including LeAnn meeting Leeland and Mark Hall. You’ll notice Mike in the pic with LeAnn and Leeland. Yes, he is the awesome dude who did the Lionel Richie pose in the previously-posted “Crashing the Grammys” video. He is cool dude, mainly because his middle name is DeWayne…spelled the same.
