More of the Magic

More of the Magic

I realize the last post was pretty short and sweet so I thought I’d give you a little more detail on our big day. We had been talking about going to Disney for a little while and even as early as that morning, I wasn’t sure we would. I had a sore throat and was taking Airborne. When we did decide to go, I put the ring in the Airborne bottle so she wouldn’t suspect anything. I also told her the ring wasn’t ready yet. I know, already lying to her. But it was for the best.

We started out at Animal Kingdom and it was just such a nice day. It wasn’t too crowded but then we were walking through an animal exhibit and a member of the Disney Dream Squad awarded us with Fast Passes for all the major attractions. We were thrilled. But it was just a taste of what was to come.

I pushed LeAnn to go to the Magic Kingdom after that. I honestly wasn’t sure what I was going to do as far as taking pictures but I knew I wanted to propose in front of the castle. I needed all the magic I could get! 🙂 We rode the Pirates ride and I went into the restroom to fish the ring out of the medicine bottle. When we passed the castle headed out of the kingdom, I asked to sit down for a minute. We took a few pictures and I spotted another Dream Squad member, Brian, talking to some friends. I patiently waited for his conversation to end and when I heard him say “I’ll walk with you over there,” I stepped up and asked him to take our picture. He asked if it was a special occasion and I said, pulling the ring out, “Well I do have a ring” and Leann’s face lit up. She started tearing up and I said, “Will you marry me?” and she said “Yes! Yes! Yes!”

Brian and his friends were so surprised and taken with the moment. He pulled out his bag and gave us Fast Passes and then took us over to a group of professional photographers and had us do some poses in front of the castle. He gave us a voucher to choose the one we liked, along with an 8X10 frame. He also called over a friend who gave us passes to stick around after the park’s closing for the Princess & Pirates party, which was awesome. The crowds died down and we were able to walk on any ride we wanted by that point.

Toward the end of the evening, we watched the fireworks at the castle and we thought about our first date, when we saw unexpected fireworks from a nearby baseball game. It was a special moment.
