Treo In the Grass: Part Two

Treo In the Grass: Part Two

I woke up Monday morning to drive home from Chattanooga and couldn’t find my Treo. I looked all over my friend Jay’s house before coming to terms with the fact that I had lost my smart phone. The night before, I’d gathered with a bunch of my friends in a field for a belated 4th of July picnic sponsored by my church in Cleveland.

I thought to myself surely I couldn’t have lost it the same way I did before. That’s right – one night, sitting in a camper’s chair, much like I was Sunday night, I placed the phone in the cupholder after a call. When we loaded up in the dark of night, the phone dropped into the grass. This time was a field where we had the picnic. A few years ago, it was an old Drive-In movie theater (for that creepy story, click here).

Jay and I went over to the field first thing Monday morning and, sure enough, it was there. Thank God it hadn’t rained and the dew was minimal.

I didn’t learn my lesson the first time. I sure hope I’ve learned it now. I do think the next time I use a camper’s chair, I’ll cut the netting out of the cup holder right off the bat, so I’ll know it’s not a place to store stuff.
