It’s the Friday before Christmas! LeAnn and I went to see a sneak of “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” last night. We enjoyed it, although it was long and we were starving. Traffic derailed our dinner plans. Review will be posted in the next few days.  Thought you might enjoy this video of our niece singing “I Like to Move It, Move It” from the Madagascar 2 movie. I thought it was awfully cute: Read more

I love to go to the movies. Always have, as far back as I can remember. There’s just something about sitting in a comfortable seat in the dark theater blanketing every possible distraction (not always) listening to stereo sound. It is a joy to load up a big bucket of popcorn, a Coke that burns your throat going down and even sometimes a pack of chocolate chip cookie dough candy. I sometimes don’t think of moviegoing as a social activity, perhaps because... Read more

Many tales have been spun centering on men seeking revenge for injustices done against them. A sea of lone vigilantes too numerous to mention have, through the years, taken up arms against those who’ve invaded their space and taken something they love. The audiences have been drawn, because it feeds into the inherent natural craving they feel for all to be made right. Red, a sleeper film that has recently released on DVD, is one such story with a little... Read more

Miley Cyrus greets a young fan at the Disney Christmas Parade taping. Today was the annual taping of the Disney Christmas Parade that airs on Christmas morning on ABC. Since we’re passholders, we thought we’d go down and check it out and see if we could see anyone. We knew Regis and Kelly would be there so we staked out a spot on a corner to see the parade and caught a glimpse of the daytime duo. Good shots were... Read more

When Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 18:3), He was addressing a very real change that occurs as a person gets older—they grow more calloused and cynical. The heart of a child can hardly process, let alone make excuses, for the evil hiding in the hearts of adults.              It’s that evil and innocent contrast that’s explored in The Boy in the... Read more

LeAnn and I took a weekend trip to see the last night of the United Tour featuring Steven Curtis Chapman and Michael W. Smith this weekend. The closest it came to us was St. Augustine, which was great because it happens to be a place we love to visit. The concert was great – a Christian music lover’s dream, with song after song we knew and loved. LeAnn’s personal favorite was “Cinderella” and hearing from Steven about the inspiration for... Read more

There’s a galley of a book that’s floated around my desk for a few days. Every time I see the title it floods my brain with the 80’s tune that I spend the rest of my day trying to suppress. I think of other songs and still it rings in my ears. I’ve heard some of my friends complain about other songs and Saturday night, the cooks at Kobe couldn’t quit with “I like to move it, move it.” I... Read more

Perhaps I’m just bitter because I’ve never stood onstage holding an award for some contribution to the betterment of society but haven’t award shows gotten out of hand? Don’t get me wrong – I’m not one to poo-poo the idea of being recognized by your peers. They certainly recognize you when you do wrong, so it’s nice to be applauded for things you get right. If I ever did anything right, I’d know how they feel and then I can... Read more

The first step is always admitting the problem. The ratings are in for the fall television season and they are less than spectacular. According to this article from the Wall Street Journal, Neilson ratings report a first week drop of 4.3% from last season. Some speculate the drop has something to do with the writer’s strike which ended the last season prematurely and viewers found other things to do with their time. Others cite an increasing competitive market from video... Read more
