Work is God’s Idea

We are all called to do something, whether or not we get paid for it, to serve the common good of society.

While the Bible makes it clear that our primary calling is God calling us to himself in Christ, it also is clear that God calls us to serve Him here on earth. Work is God’s idea – it is how we are made. And there is intrinsic value to our work.

When does a person go into full-time Christian work? Not when he or she becomes a pastor or missionary, but when he or she becomes a Christian.  The Bible does not teach a two-tiered Christian hierarchy. We are all called to ministry in our work. Our everyday callings are as important to God as the callings to vocational ministry (pastors, missionaries, etc.).
