Based in Los Angeles, Kate O’Hare is a veteran journalist who covered television for the Tribune syndicate for two decades, doing thousands of interviews with entertainers, celebrities, industry workers, scientists, and everyday people.
She has also traveled to sets and locations in New York, Los Angeles, Canada many points in between. Her stories appeared in the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, Baltimore Sun and Miami Herald.
After leaving the syndicate, she reported for the famed entertainment-industry publication Variety, along with covering Church-related issues and pop culture for Breitbart News, CatholicVote and PJ Media.
Now, as the social media and Internet Content Manager for Family Theater Productions in Hollywood, she brings together the worlds of entertainment, faith and tech (and the NFL) in her Patheos section, Pax Culturati. Kate also writes for and edits for Family Theater’s Faith & Family Media Blog.
Kate enjoys writing for Patheos because at Patheos she sees “the freedom to choose my topics and pursue my interests.”
Kate also likes “the quality of the interface – and that the site has such a great reputation with the publicists and entertainment folks that I work with. The name ‘Patheos’ unlocks a lot of doors, and then it’s just up to me to walk through them and make the most of the opportunities.”
Kate offers up this advice to future Patheos writers, “Pick a lane and pretty much stay in it, at least at the beginning. Your readers want to know what to expect from you, and if you’re lucky, they’ll go looking for what you have to say on the topics you’re known to cover. Also, brush up on your writing/editing skills, and learn what makes an attractive, inviting page layout. Patheos is a professional-looking platform, and you want your material to be at that level.”
