Deified Messaging System

Deified Messaging System

In a previous post I mentioned that Butler University has a new unified messaging system that sends voice mail via e-mail, as well as allowing you to check your e-mail by phone. In that post I mentioned it telling someone “You have an e-mail from Jesus.” In a voice mail message I left for someone today, I later learned that it turned part of it into the text below (in which, ironically, I said that I wondered what the unified messaging system would transcribe the words as):

— it’ll be interesting to see what this new messaging system deified messaging system turns my words into because really also get this via email — but if you wanna call me back god do so otherwise we can talk about this some other way.

I love that it decided to turn my reference into the Unified Messaging System into the deified messaging system, and inserted an additional reference to “god” (which could, in the context, be taken as an expletive or as indicating that I’ve suddenly turned from speaking to my colleague to addressing god prayerfully).
