  • God’s Word (the ‘Verse, the one ‘Verse, the uniVerse, best understood by science) tells us that Jesus wasn’t born of a virgin.

If some book written by people called the Bible says it happens, then it is factually wrong, because parthenogenesis (virgin birth) does not happen naturally in any mammals.

And even a “virgin birth”—unless virgin is defined by an intact hymen—did somehow happen, it is no more significant than the work of Dr. Elena Revazova, International Stem Cell Corporation (ISCC,) who on June 26, 2007 created “human stem cells from unfertilized human eggs using parthenogenesis.”

Were those parthenogenic cells sinless? If so, could sin be cured, not by human sacrifice of a male virgin, but by stem cell therapy?

It should be possible to use stem cell technology to create sperm from a woman.
This would enable a lesbian couple to be the mother and father of their own child, although they would only be able to have daughters because they don’t have a Y chromosome. I would be interested to hear what people think of this.

      • My guess is that this sort of theology will change real fast.

This is why there was the necessity for a virgin birth. We find that the sin nature is passed on specifically through the male. Rom. 5:12 tells us sin entered the world through one man and that everyone is given a built in death warrant because of their sin nature.

I’d love to pick up a copy of this book and read it, but unfortunately, it’s not available in electronic format.
