This is happening here in Indianapolis (at IUPUI) and seems worth sharing:
Out of this world Wednesdays
March 31st, April 14th, April 28th
asking the big questions about life through the lens of Star Trek
- Do we have both good and evil within us?
- Is religious belief rational or merely superstitious?
- How should a starship captain solve complex moral dilemmas?
- Do the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few?
- Discuss these and other fundamental questions concerning human nature, morality, society, religion—“life, the universe and everything.”
Viewings and discussion of selected episodes from various Star Trek television series will be held from 7:00 to 9:00pm in LD 010 (Science Bldg.)
This event is sponsored by the IUPUI Philosophy Club, Religious Studies Student Association, and Mission with Secularity. Discussion will be facilitated by Dr. Jason Eberl, Associate Professor of Philosophy at IUPUI. Prof. Eberl is the co-editor of Star Trek and Philosophy: The Wrath of Kant (Open Court, 2008).
