Heaven’s Agenda by Calvin Tibbs

Heaven’s Agenda by Calvin Tibbs

When Christ’s agenda takes center stage in our hearts, we will take off the robes we’ve dawned, put down the gavel in our hand, find a chair without a bench and start loving each other.  The world’s operating system loves a spectacle, and routinely excludes God’s view in their reporting. They opt instead for the ever-increasing Tell-Us-What-You-Think questions. Frankly, outside of the mind of Christ, our thinking is sadly lacking. The high court of our personal opinion flows all too freely and the world’s system loves it when His children routinely think outside of the broad vastness of God’s wisdom.

So much has been given to personal opinion that it doesn’t seem unusual to exclude God’s. This strategy is made seamless by the 20 seconds of fame that clouds the greater issue. The issue is, “What does God think?” To be effective, we must hear from heaven regarding earthly matters.

So what does heaven’s agenda look like? What makes up a heavenly game plan? To answer this, let’s start with what it is not.  The following is a partial list of commonly practiced items that are not a part of Heaven’s Agenda:

1. Complaining

2. Verbal Jabs

3. Disrespect

4. Vulgarity

5. Ignorance

6. Excuses

7. Laziness

8. Forms of Godliness

9. Luke Warm Living

10. Pretense

On the other hand, our thank-you-gift to Jesus is more than a list. In fact, our gift to God should be lived. We’re a walking, talking list of God’s goodness as displayed within our lives. The Apostle Paul references this (Romans 12:1), subsequently; the list below more aptly represents our lives. It’s our gift back to God, a life of recurring submission to His agenda. We should be well endowed in the corruption-free, divine attributes that outlast time and benefit us now. And while it is true that everyone has an opinion, it is equally true that we should embrace God’s thoughts (opinions) until they become ours. Commit to un-reserve the right to remain wrong. Make a stand to join, mend and strengthen the once splintered Body of Christ.

The following is a partial list of commonly practiced items that are a part of Heaven’s Agenda:

1. Thanksgiving

2. Verbal Encouragement

3. Respect

4. Honor

5. Wisdom

6. Faithfulness

7. Vision

8. Commitment

9. Fervency

10. Sincerity

When Jesus receives this fragrance from our lives, the world will crave the God we serve. When the agenda of heaven reaches our motivations, our interests, and our decision making, our lives will change the planet. Someone is watching the way you live. They may not want you to know this, but God put you in the lives of the people around you to give them a glimpse of Him.  The more we aspire to and walk in the Holy Spirit’s leading, the easier it will be for the onlookers to find Christ. Make this a priority.
