We must be remain soberly patient for the Lord’s divine providence to arrive. We can chase experiences that clutter our lives, or be stuffed with news media hoopla to the point of losing our spiritual sensitivity, discernment and disciplines. Waiting in expectation does not always get easier with age. With youthful hopes and dreams seemingly unfulfilled, we can become cynical or self-satisfied. As we mature in God we should be able to wait with even greater patience and ever-increasing expectation. When we wait on God we wait with joyful expectation. Without expectation we can become hopeless in our present moment. When we wait expectantly, we open ourselves up to joy and strength.
