Scientology Volunteer Ministers Disaster Response

Scientology Volunteer Ministers Disaster Response June 3, 2014

Throughout the year, whenever disasters strike, Scientology Volunteer Ministers activate to provide whatever help is needed. Sometimes, it is the first responders who are most in need of support.  This is the case in most major fires, where fire crews are facing extremely arduous conditions, working double shifts, battling fires to bring them under control. In that case, Volunteer Ministers provide food and water and Scientology assists to the firefighters, and take on any other task needed to make it easier for them to do their jobs.  In other circumstances, the Volunteer Ministers priority is to provide relief to the victims of the disaster, such as when people are stranded or homeless and need food and water, or where large numbers of people are living in shelters until they can return home, if their homes still exist at all.  At any given time there Volunteer  Ministers teams will be active somewhere around the globe.  Right now, a team of Volunteer Ministers is in Belgrade, helping with flood relief, and volunteers from throughout Europe are being activated to join them to help cope with the worst flood in the region’s history.

It is an aspect of the Scientology religion that one not only receive help but give help.  And it is not just a matter of balancing the flow. It is more a matter that as you become more aware of the interconnection of life, you reach out further and do more, recognizing your own responsibility in all of life. So volunteering and helping in the community is an integral part of being a Scientologist.
