Excerpts of an article, reprinted with permission of the Scientology Newsroom. “Where were you when it happened?” That question has probably been asked a million times today. Not only did 9/11 form an indelible memory for anyone alive in 2001,  it also represented both the worst and the best of humanity. Scientologists remember the hundreds of volunteers from across the U.S. and around the world who made their way to New York to help—despite the uncertainty of what might come next... Read more

Those who have been following the Patheos Scientology Beliefs blog know of the Scientology Volunteer Ministers (VMs) and their work in times of disaster. With the Bahamas decimated by Hurricane Dorian, Scientology Churches immediately began readying teams of VMs, who have the reputation of being among the first to arrive and the last to leave when disaster strikes. As they have since the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, the VMs are partnering with Los Topos, the famous Mexican first responders, providing support to... Read more

Bridging differences, dispelling misconceptions and promoting tolerance at the fourth annual series of interfaith forums at the Church of Scientology Los Angeles. In the first of this year’s series of interfaith programs hosted by the Church of Scientology Los Angeles, religious leaders representing five faiths discussed their basic beliefs and their work in the community. There was something for everyone at Dinosaur Days at the Church of Scientology Dublin Community Centre. Thousands of visitors joined in the fun. The Dinosaur Show in the Community Centre auditorium was packed for every performance. There were fabulous funfair rides, a reptile petting zoo, an entire village of bouncy houses, arts and crafts, face painting, great food and wonderful company. If anything, it was even better than last year’s Dinosaur Days, but what better way to describe it than in the social... Read more

Scientology Beliefs shares a blog first published on the website of STAND (Scientologists Taking Action Against Discrimination), written by actor, director, impressionist and YouTube personality Jim Meskimen. One would think, in this new epoch of hyper-sensitivity, that casual slurs about a stranger’s religion would be “so last century.” Not so much. I’m an actor, and a big part of my life is auditioning for casting directors in the L.A. area. Not too long ago I went into a well-known casting... Read more

A blog by Wil Seabrook, originally posted on the website of  STAND (Scientologists Taking Action Against Discrimination) I’ve been a Scientologist for 18 years. (Time really does fly by…) When I was first introduced to Scientology I had so many questions because it was so unlike anything I’d ever experienced before. And for every question I asked there was an answer that not only made sense, but resonated with me as something profoundly truthful. And so I learned and studied more. I asked... Read more

Scientologist Rodger Clark, a blogger for the STAND (Scientologists Taking Action Against Discrimination) website, presents his take on the“artificial media version of Scientology,” and its resolution. Republished courtesy of the STAND website. I have often seen confusion arise in the minds of people who hear snippets of the theatrical, artificial media version of Scientology. My own family, friends, and acquaintances know me as mostly “normal” and hardworking. A little wacky, a little funny, somewhat interesting, but just another guy. They can’t... Read more

by Wayne Edward Hanson What Scientologists believe is best understood through this principle, outlined in the essay “Personal Integrity” by Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard: “What is true for you is what you have observed yourself. And when you lose that, you have lost everything.” In fourth grade, for example, I asked my teacher the definition of a word. I had a good vocabulary and was a good reader, and she said to me “You’re smart enough to figure it... Read more
