It’s been a rough week around our nation. For me, my preschool classroom has been a sanctuary from the Covid-19 surge and the insurrection at our capitol. It has given me tremendous hope to see these tiny humans play and learn together. They work REALLY hard at managing their big feelings, and showing kindness to one another. (American Adults we can learn a thing or two from them. Just sayin’.) Beyond that, they make me laugh.
One of my preschoolers was pretending I was her customer in a hair salon (which she calls the “Cutie Salon” instead of “beauty salon”). She picked up a prop shampoo bottle and says, seriously, “Kristen I am going to put this shampoo in your hair. It will help you poop better. This [conditioner bottle] helps you with pee.” I laughed so hard I forgot for a minute that I was soul sick for our nation.
Other Sick Pilgrims are taking solace in a cup of joe and some good books:
When I placed a holiday order for bones coffee, a coffee company I highly recommend, they included a free mug in the shipment. Apparently, I was one of 200 winners. I feel pretty special about that. Also tried their peppermint bark coffee today. 2 Thumbs way up.
Reading Caryll Houselander’s ‘Reed of G-d’ alongside Robinne Lee’s ‘The Idea of You’. I just love the complete contrast. –Irim Sarwar
