Tools for Arguments

Tools for Arguments September 6, 2019

Arguments can be constructive, but more times than not, the way we disagree negats any positive outcome. Providing our kids with the skills to have discussions that are respectful and fruitful is a necessary life skill. In this video, I give steps for kids to think about while having an argument.

Here are the active listening stages I mention in the video:

  1. The listener needs to pay attention to the speaker.
  2. The listener needs to show he’s listening.
  3. The listener needs to provide feedback.
  4. The listener needs to not interrupt the speaker.
  5. The listener needs to respond by following the Golden Rule.
