An Appeal to my Fans This Summer

An Appeal to my Fans This Summer June 6, 2021

Hi folks! This is not a real post, it’s just the periodic boilerplate where I remind you that Steel Magnificat, and my family, live almost entirely on tips. I get a tiny paycheck, sometimes as much as three figures, from Patheos for clicks in the United States, a small royalty check once a year for books, and the whole rest of my living is gratuities from readers who like what they see and want to pay my light bill so I can keep typing more.

This is the time of year that that light bill gets VERY high, because it’s hot in Steubenville and the rental house doesn’t have central air. We plugged in three of our five window air units to condition the whole house so the heat and humidity don’t worsen my fibromyalgia, and that’s when we found out that the other two are broken. We tried to make do by propping an electric fan in the second-story window, where it fell out, so now we need to get a fan as well. Besides that, the Neighborhood Trolley never got that wheel well cover put back on, and that’s all besides everyday expenses.

So as always, I ask: if you like what you read, give me a tip when you can! Some people throw me a few dollars and some give more, some sign up to patronize me every month and some only do once in awhile. Think of it as a magazine subscription where you pay what you think I’m worth and get to keep reading even if you can’t afford it. Just go to the “donate” page, click on the bright yellow button, and Patheos will walk you through the rest.

And now, back to blog posts worth reading!
