Trump Pal Vows No Loyalty to the Party Once Trump Walks Away

No honor among thieves.

Roger Stone, the creepy-as-death pal, and unofficial adviser to President Trump is letting it be known that when there is no longer Trump, the alt-right boy band breaks up.

During an interview with Big League Politics (Seriously, why does anyone outside of Alex Jones still talk to Roger Stone?), Stone suggested that Trump 2020 isn’t necessarily a done deal. The president may still walk away.

“I could see him saying ‘you know what? I don’t need this anymore. I’ve made America great again. I have kept my promises to the American people. I’m heading off to the golf course,’” Stone said of Trump to the online web show Howley Reports.

And guess what?

Stone and his ilk have no loyalty to the Republican party. Getting Trump elected was all about Trump, and had nothing to do with shoring up GOP wins. In fact, everyone licking Trump’s boots now are going to be left with nothing more than broken character and a mouth full of shoe polish, should people like Stone have their way.

Stone said he could “guarantee” that he’ll run a candidate against Pence should Trump bow out of another campaign.

Vice President Pence has been a loyal Trump surrogate. Trump picked him. What is the problem with Pence picking up the torch when Trump is gone, if it’s all about a Trump agenda?

“Mike Pence is not one of us,” Stone said. “Mike Pence is controlled by the Koch brothers who did everything humanly possible to stop Donald Trump from being president,” he added, referring to billionaire conservative donors David and Charles Koch.

The Koch brothers did oppose Trump, but they’ve otherwise been reliable sources of support for the GOP and conservative causes. They’re not the bad guys here. Only liberals tend to see the Koch brothers as a problem.

Oh, yeah…

So is Stone’s only problem with Mike Pence?

Not exactly.

He also took aim at the crown jewel of Trump’s administration, United States ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley.

“See you in New Hampshire, boys,” Stone said to a potential presidential ticket that includes Pence and Haley.

This is ludicrous. For Republicans, the thought of running Nikki Haley on any future GOP ticket should be enough to cause conservative toes to curl with anticipation and excitement.

Not only has Haley been tested at the executive level, as the former governor of South Carolina, but she has also been the representative we’ve needed in the United Nations for quite some time. Nobody could prove a more powerful, outspoken voice to press our nation’s interests to the world.

To be clear, Roger Stone is an infection.

He’s a troll and a stain on polite society.

He’s also a close, personal friend of Donald Trump’s, however, and claims to be one of the few “outsiders” to still have the president’s ear.

If he’s even remotely correct that Trump may decide to walk away in 2020, rather than pursue another four years in office, we have a few things we need to consider.

First of all, would he endorse a successor? Would he open that door for Pence?

This, of course, is assuming that Mike Pence has designs on the Oval Office.

Should Trump decide to walk – or be wheeled out, given that he’ll be 74 years old in 2020 – there’s no guarantee he would endorse anyone.

What we’ve seen from Trump is that he has zero sense of loyalty. His ego will not allow him to walk and leave someone to carry on. A more likely scenario is Trump pours gasoline over his entire Cabinet in his final days in office, and tosses a lit match on his way out the door.

Will Trump even make it another two years, before the Russia probe overtakes him, forcing him to cut out early, either by choice or something else?

If that’s the case, Pence will move into that spot, naturally, and no matter what Stone thinks, the GOP will not support a new candidate in 2020, should Pence decide to run.

For the time being, it does appear, at least on the surface, that Trump intends to push for reelection.

He’s hired his former digital adviser, Brad Parscale to be his 2020 campaign manager. In fact, he hasn’t stopped campaigning since the day he took office. His campaign website is still active. He’s still selling campaign merchandise. He’s still holding rallies.

It’s going to take something major to convince Trump to walk away.

That being said, no one should be surprised that his close associates are showing no loyalty to those who have been loyal to Trump, and will turn on the party, the minute there isn’t a direct connection to the presidency for them.
