One More Reminder of Why We Don’t Call Kim Jong Un a “Good Guy”

One More Reminder of Why We Don’t Call Kim Jong Un a “Good Guy” June 29, 2018

He’s President Trump’s new best pal for a reason.

If you’re one of those who has felt obligated to reassess your views of North Korean dictator, Kim Jong Un, simply because President Trump suddenly says he’s a man who can be trusted and that they “understand” each other, I’m going to go ahead and say your priorities and judgment couldn’t be more screwed up.

Kim Jong Un got all he wanted from the summit in Singapore with President Trump, and the United States got vague assurances, at best.

Defectors from the hermit nation have expressed absolute bewilderment over why the president would give so much leeway and praise to a man known to be ruthless and cruel. What they miss is that his wanton tyranny makes him an admirable figure to Trump.

The group amnesia of the right, ignoring who Kim Jong Un is because it has become politically acceptable to the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue puts us all in a difficult position.

As if to remind those forgetful souls, a new report coming out of North Korea highlights just how vicious the Kim regime [still] is.

According to the Daily NK, Hyon Ju Song, the lieutenant general of the Korean People’s Army in the country’s capital, Pyongyang made a grave and irreversible error, when he took it upon himself to increase the rations of food and fuel to the starving troops and their families.

For the “crime” of “abusing authority” and alleged anti-Party acts, he was sentenced to death by firing squad.

Hyon was reportedly a rising star in the army before his death. He served as a member of the Workers’ Party of Korea’s Central Committee and battalion commander under the Supreme Guard Command.

“While checking the oil supplies for the Sohae Satellite Launching Station during the comprehensive inspections of wartime supplies on April 10, Hyon stated, ‘We no longer have to suffer and tighten our belts to make rockets or nuclear weapons.’ This was seen as an abuse of authority and a treasonous statement that opposed the Party’s military-first policy,” a source told Daily NK.

According to the source, the exact numbers of this “treason,” include 2,000 pounds of fuel, 1,600 pounds of corn, and 1,200 pounds of rice distributed to military officers and their families at the Launching Station.

It sounds like a small amount, when you take everything into consideration. To a dictator like Kim Jong Un, however, it was enough to warrant a man’s life be taken.

“This was considered an anti-Party act violating the Ten Principles for the Establishment of the Party’s One-Ideology System,” the source said.

The officer was also accused of “failing to maintain secrecy regarding the affairs of the Party, military, and government institutions, displaying generosity by distributing unauthorized handouts, and misrepresenting the ideology of the Party,” the source said.

And now I’m worried about the man’s family. It’s a valid concern, considering all the reports of how the Kim regime doesn’t just punish the offender, but exacts revenge against their families, including wives and children, as well.

Another source says that Hyon’s execution was ordered by Kim Jong Un, himself.

“The ideological poisoning that is personal idolization is corrupting the chief personnel in the People’s Army. We must nip the bud of ideological poisoning,” the source quoted Kim as saying.

In other words, everyone who accepted that extra corn, rice, and fuel are now fearing for their lives.

This isn’t even the worst you’ll hear out of North Korea, but it’s one more story to keep in mind when you hear about loyalists to the Trump party celebrating Donald Trump’s friendship and trust of the Kim regime.
