Freedom Caucus Demand Rod Rosenstein Appear in Private Meeting

Freedom Caucus Demand Rod Rosenstein Appear in Private Meeting September 28, 2018

So it’s Friday.

The events of Kavanaugh Thursday are behind us, so while the world waits to see if a confirmation vote happens (the early word is that it will), we must turn our focus back to the top, and realize we still have Donald Trump as president, and a mewling, complicit Congress, unwilling to act as anything other than his lapdogs.

One of the rumored happenings for Thursday was to be a meeting between President Trump and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

Earlier in the week, news broke that Rosenstein had allegedly suggested wearing a wire to secretly record President Trump on one of his insane, behind-the-scenes benders, and to use that recording to support a 25th Amendment push to remove the man from office.

The news was of particular interest, because we keep hearing that people within the administration have at least considered it.

Most recently, an anonymous author, claiming to be a senior White House official wrote an op-ed for The New York Times, claiming that the 25th Amendment had been considered, but that, ultimately, those within the administration decided that they would, instead, simply work to act as buffers between the Mad King and the nation.

The story about Rosenstein was just too much, especially since he is the one who appointed special counsel Robert Mueller, kicking off the intense Russia probe that has been such a thorn in the side of Trump.

The “Deep State” fix was in!

Of the early stories swirling this week, the first was an ominous report that Rosenstein had been summoned to the White House to speak with White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, with the belief being that he was being fired.

Then the story became he was resigning.

Then the story was that he was asked to resign, but refused.

It was all put on hold, when the last story to come out was that President Trump had set up a meeting with Rosenstein on Thursday, during the Kavanaugh circus, but with a twist: The president had apparently said that he hoped Rosenstein would stay.

That didn’t even hold, as President Trump called off the meeting, so he could do what the rest of us were doing and affix himself to a television screen somewhere to watch Kavanaugh’s testimony.

So with everyone caught up, the new day brings new news.

Conservative lawmakers with the House Freedom Caucus – aka – Trump’s shoeshine boys – have demanded a closed door meeting with Rosenstein today, as they seek to get to the bottom of the story about Rosenstein suggesting he wear a wire to catch a Trumpian flakeout on tape.

GOP lawmakers were already pushing for more clarity from the Justice Department about their unfulfilled requests for documents relating to how the department decided to investigate a former Trump campaign operative.

But in light of a New York Times report that Rosenstein mulled wearing a wire in a meeting with Trump, and considered organizing Trump’s removal under the 25th Amendment to the Constitution, Republicans said Rosenstein should have to answer to Congress.

Members of the House Freedom Caucus said Rosenstein should either testify or resign his post. And on Friday morning, Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows, R-N.C., said GOP leaders agreed to ensure he testifies.

Sounds like busy work, to me.

You guys know what “busy work” is.

That’s when you do a lot of nothing to avoid doing a little something of substance.

So with Trump’s muppets planning this, is it right that they plan it without a bipartisan panel, or do they really think their voices are the only voices that matter?

But Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., tweeted that Republicans have no right to hold a private hearing without Democrats, and said he would insist that Democrats be allowed to participate.

“There is no such thing as a ‘closed, private hearing,” tweeted Nadler, the top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee. “I will demand that @SpeakerRyan give us access to that meeting.”

Well, he’s right.

What goes on with Rosenstein and our DOJ is the business of all Americans, not just those who lick Trump’s boots.

Let’s just wait and see if Rosenstein responds to the call of the court jesters.
