Just like a corrupt mobster, President Trump took to Twitter to attack Attorney General Jeff Sessions for, of all things, doing his job.
In his afternoon attack, Trump accused Sessions of putting two Republican seats at risk.
“Two long running, Obama era, investigations of two very popular Republican Congressmen were brought to a well publicized charge, just ahead of the Mid-Terms, by the Jeff Sessions Justice Department,” Trump tweeted.
“Two easy wins now in doubt because there is not enough time. Good job Jeff,” Trump continued.
It doesn’t matter that these two men, Reps. Chris Collins (R-NY) and Duncan Hunter (R-CA) apparently were involved in criminal activity. What matters is that they were both early Trump supporters and if they are forced to answer for their crimes, their seats will be open and possibly could fall to the Democrats.

In August, Collins was charged with securities fraud and lying to the FBI about it.
The charges against him are that in 2017, he tipped off family members to nonpublic stock information.
He’s claiming his innocence, but he suspended his reelection campaign, in the meantime.
As for Duncan Hunter, he and his wife have recently come under fire for what appears to be misuse of campaign funds, to the tune of about $250,000. They’re also charged with falsifying the information concerning the funds in their filings to the Federal Election Commission.
Hunter allegedly used campaign funds to pay for his family’s dental work, his children’s tuition, international travel for nearly a dozen relatives, fast food, golf outings and more.
The California congressman echoed Trump in his vow to fight the charges, claiming the DOJ has a “political agenda.”
I guess that’s the quick and easy go-to, when you need to explain away your legal missteps, now.
Interestingly enough, Hunter attempted to point the finger at his wife, Margaret, shortly after news of the charges emerged. He quickly changed course and asked that his wife be left out of it.
Yeah. Nice attempt at a save.
Trump wasn’t done with going after Sessions.
The president added in a tweet Monday afternoon that Democrats “must love” Sessions in the wake of the charges, likening his popularity to former FBI Director James Comey, whom Trump fired last year.
Trump also inaccurately claimed no Democrats voted to confirm Sessions, when Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) did vote in Sessions’s favor.
He was your pick, man.
….The Democrats, none of whom voted for Jeff Sessions, must love him now. Same thing with Lyin’ James Comey. The Dems all hated him, wanted him out, thought he was disgusting – UNTIL I FIRED HIM! Immediately he became a wonderful man, a saint like figure in fact. Really sick!

Trump has been on a near-continuous attack of Sessions, ever since the attorney general excused himself from the Russia probe.
He had to do it. He drew scrutiny for his own interactions with Russian officials during the campaign.
Trump has no clue of ethical government and felt the job of the attorney general was to be a wall between the president and any charges that might come his way.
That is not, in fact, the job of the attorney general.
Trump told Bloomberg in an interview on Thursday that Sessions will remain in his job at least until the November midterm elections. The president declined to comment when asked if he would keep his attorney general on beyond that.
During an interview late last month with Fox News, Trump claimed he only appointed Sessions, a key member of his campaign, because he “felt loyalty.”
I’m sure Chris Christie heard that and bit through a brick.
He makes an interesting point that shouldn’t be missed. Trump is looking for loyalty, something that former FBI Director James Comey insists the president asked of him, during a private meeting.
Also, it must be pointed out that Donald Trump has never been the particularly loyal type, himself. He asks for it. He doesn’t reciprocate.
Sessions pushed back in a statement last week, saying he would not be “influenced” by political pressure.
It was a rare show of backbone, given Trump’s constant abuse.
Chris Collins and Duncan Hunter – they made the trouble for themselves. Jess Sessions is just doing his actual job. It’s not his job to be the keeper of the GOP’s integrity. Each elected official needs to be responsible for their own behavior.
