Venezuelan Dictator, Maduro, Wants a Meeting With Trump (but Is It a Good Idea?) September 29, 2018

Given what we know about President Trump’s ego and susceptibility to praise over common sense, how wise would it be to encourage another face-to-face meeting with another despot?

He’s already given far too much legitimacy to North Korea’s Kim Jong Un.

He’s practically handed over our nation’s status as the top world power to his man-crush, Vladimir Putin, and Russia.

Oh, and don’t let this tariff dispute fool you. Trump has openly praised China’s “President-for-life” Xi Jinping, for his ability to wrest control out of the hands of the people, and installing himself in such a powerful position.

The world is watching, and dictators and strongmen are catching on.

President Donald Trump is a pushover and a gullible fool.

So which despot is teeing up for his next big win on the world stage?

Venezuela’s Nicolas Maduro.

For those who haven’t been keeping up, Nicolas Maduro is the Socialist tyrant who is getting fatter, while his own people suffer.

While the population buckles under the weight of socialism, to the point of starvation, desperation – Maduro rules with an iron fist, stripping away even the most basic rights of his people.

His regime is callous to the suffering of Venezuelans.

And now he wants to talk to President Trump.

Speaking to reporters at the United Nation’s (UN) headquarters in New York on Friday, Maduro indicated that he was open to meeting with Trump despite months of tensions between the two countries, according to a video posted to Twitter by Voice of America.

“I think it would be for the best,” Maduro says in the video in Spanish. “I am sure that if Donald Trump and I see each other face to face … I’m sure it would be for the best. I am willing.”

Of course you are.

Some earlier reports have emerged in recent weeks, suggesting that President Trump’s administration has discussed the possibility of going in and removing Maduro by military means, with the help of Venezuelan rebels.

I don’t know that that would be the most strategic means of ending the scourge of socialism in Venezuela. It would certainly pose some international risks, considering Venezuela is backed by Russia, who have considerable stake in Venezuela’s oil industry.

What is a certainty is that the humanitarian crisis in Venezuela is at level red. The people are starving. Babies are suffering because of lack of milk and necessary medicine. Most Venezuelan citizens are scrambling for every meal – any meal – they can scrape up.

Maduro is the kind of “leader” that addresses his citizens on TV, while pausing to take a big bite of a delicacy he (oddly enough) had tucked away in a desk drawer.

That was blatant.

And cruel.

Maduro’s government banned guns, except for use by government entities. And in a message for gun control advocates, the murder rate skyrocketed.

To be born Venezuelan under the Maduro regime is like a certain curse, and it is heartbreaking.

President Trump is not saying “no” to a potential Maduro meet-up. Earlier in the week, he seemed willing.

“I would certainly be open to it, I’m willing to meet with anybody,” Trump said at the UN’s headquarters.

“All options are on the table, every one,” he added Wednesday, according to Reuters. “The strong ones and the less than strong ones and you know what I mean by strong. Every option is on the table with respect to Venezuela.”

The danger is Trump’s fragile ego.

All Maduro needs to do to become Trump’s new best friend is to feign awe over his inauguration crowd size, or compliment his shoes.

The man is starving his own people. The world shouldn’t have to hear what a great guy he is, but with Trump, that’s always a possibility.

If Trump agrees to go into a meeting with Maduro, there should be conditions set forth that work towards giving relief to the socialist-borne humanitarian crisis in the nation.

The people of Venezuela cannot wait for the world’s help, but they are forced to.

I’ve promoted this site before, so I’ll do so again, for those who have missed it.

Helping Venezuela is a GoFundMe account set up to get funds to volunteers, who purchase food and staples, and deliver them to desperate Venezuelans.

I endorse this effort. I have contributed to this effort, and I trust the organizers.

So, while the world sits on pause, if you can support, it would be a blessing to a lot of hungry people.

Pray for Venezuela.
