Democratic Aide Jailed for “Doxing” Republican Senators

Democratic Aide Jailed for “Doxing” Republican Senators October 4, 2018

The testimony given by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford and Judge Brett Kavanaugh a week ago made for an intense watching experience.

What it also did was expose the deep dividing lines among Americans – even more than what we’re already so glaringly aware of.

I can say my own position on the matter, as a “NeverTrump” voice, is that I find myself separated from the Republican party that was my home for all my adult years, because I reject the new direction of the party.

Because of that, leftists are good with me, until I start preaching the sanctity of life, traditional marriage as a virtue, and a host of political and cultural opinions that put me firmly to their right.

Now, with the Kavanaugh debacle, and my belief that the flimsy claims of Dr. Ford (along with the equally unconvincing parade of feminists to emerge after) are not enough to ruin this man’s life, I find myself in the crosshairs of some of my “NeverTrump” compadres, aghast that I won’t bend my principles – even a little – to oppose a man tainted by a Trump nomination.

I’m sorry, guys. Just because Trump picked him, that isn’t enough for me to condemn him with what appear to be false or twisted allegations.

So everybody is mad at everybody else. This is a mess.

In the midst of the chaos, however, a few true creeps have been making their moves, and on Wednesday evening, we saw at least some justice visit one of those creeps.

Some of you may have heard that during the Senate Judiciary Committee hearings in the Kavanaugh case last week, someone “doxed” several U.S. senators, on the Wikipedia platform.

Republican senators Mike Lee (Utah), Orrin Hatch (Utah), and Lindsey Graham (S.C.) – all members of the Senate Judiciary Committee – had their home addresses and phone numbers posted to their Wikipedia pages.

At the time, as the information became public, it was determined that the posts were being made from Capitol Hill, on the House of Representatives side.

And now the sniveling little toad, a Democratic aide, has been tracked down and arrested.

For those who wonder what the big deal is – consider the caustic, hateful political climate we’re now experiencing. Think about how mean people have become, all because of politics.

Then consider that Lee, Hatch, and Graham had their actual home addresses posted to the web, for the entire world to see.

What do you think the chances are that they or their families could be targeted by some unhinged character?

You don’t dox anyone. It’s not safe. The only reason it was done was to endanger these men’s lives or have their families threatened. Nobody doxes anyone, with good intent.

Jackson A. Cosko, 27, most recently worked for Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, and was formerly on the staffs of Sen. Maggie Hassan, D-N.H., and Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif.

He has been charged with five federal counts and two counts under Washington, D.C., law in relation to the “doxing” of “one or more” lawmakers, according to a US Capitol Police news release. The charges include counts of witness tampering, identity theft, second-degree burglary, and unlawful entry.

It sounds like Mr. Cosko is in it deep.

Good.

Glenn Rushing, Jackson Lee’s chief of staff, told the Washington Examiner that Cosko had been working as an intern and had been fired. “It is an ongoing investigation and we are cooperating with authorities,” he said.

Cosko is listed in the 2018 Senate directory phone book as Sen. Maggie Hassan’s legislative correspondent/systems administrator, and a LinkedIn profile for somebody with the same name states he left the New Hampshire Democrat’s office in May. Cosko was also listed as a staff member for Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee on a Dear Colleague letter the Texas Democrat circulated last month.

A spokesman for Senator Lee confirmed that the office had already spoken with Capitol police, but was not at liberty to discuss any further.

There’s a good reason they couldn’t speak further.

It’s an ongoing case, and the hateful Mr. Cosko’s troubles may only just be starting.

Cosko remains in custody. The Capitol Police said: “The investigation will continue and additional charges may be forthcoming.”

I’m sure somebody in some fringe left group will consider him to be some sort of folk hero, but I’m going to guess that he’s not feeling like a hero, today.

In fact, he’s probably feeling a little scared. Maybe he’s questioning why he did something so stupid.

Maybe some time in a cell, reflecting on his life choices is just what he needs.

Cosko is just a small example of how we’re letting our emotions over politics cause us to abandon common sense and courtesy.

Disagreeing isn’t the issue. It’s how we chose to conduct ourselves in the midst of disagreement, and too many are failing the test.
