Did Florida Rep Matt Gaetz Attempt Witness Intimidation? Yes, He Did February 26, 2019

Do you want to know how serious former Trump attorney and fixer, Michael Cohen’s three day appearance before Congress is for Trump World?

You can always tell by how frothing and over the top the reactions are from President Trump or his foot soldiers if there is a 4-alarm fire on the horizon.

Judging by Tuesday’s ill-advised tweet from smarmy Trump toady, Florida Representative Matt Gaetz, I’d say the marching orders have been put forth by the president:

STOP MICHAEL COHEN!

In a world of criminal thuggery, at some point, witness intimidation tactics come into play.

We already saw the Manhattan Thug-in-Chief take a run at Cohen before.

The first time was back in December 2018.

He accused Cohen of lying to get a better sentence.

“You mean he can do all of the TERRIBLE, unrelated to Trump, things having to do with fraud, big loans, Taxis, etc., and not serve a long prison term? He makes up stories to get a GREAT & ALREADY reduced deal for himself, and get…

“…his wife and father-in-law (who has the money?) off Scott Free,” the president tweeted. “He lied for this outcome and should, in my opinion, serve a full and complete sentence.”

He wasn’t done.

Without addressing Cohen directly, President Trump made several tweets referencing Cohen’s father-in-law last month. Shortly after, Cohen’s legal counsel, Lanny Davis, accused the president of attempting to intimidate a witness, and added that there was reason to believe that Trump’s fan base, or even perhaps some of his foreign connections could create an atmosphere where there was a potential for harm.

At the time, Michael Cohen was scheduled to give public testimony before Congress.

He postponed those plans, due to fears for his safety.

But now it’s back on, and after a closed door session on Tuesday with the Senate Intelligence Committee, Cohen will speak publicly on Wednesday before the House Oversight and Reform Committee.

Some of the expected testimony will center around crimes President Trump committed, not just on the campaign trail, but while in office.

This will coincide with Trump’s second summit with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.

Gaetz, in a tweet that was completely unprofessional and unbecoming of an elected representative, lashed out at Cohen in a most personal way.

“Hey @MichaelCohen212 – Do your wife & father-in-law know about your girlfriends?” The lawmaker tweeted. “Maybe tonight would be a good time for that chat. I wonder if she’ll remain faithful when you’re in prison.  She’s about to learn a lot…”

That’s disgusting.

So did Cohen have mistresses?

Probably.

He was, after all, a devoted Trump loyalist, even more so than most others.

Monkey see, monkey do, right?

That, however, is a personal matter to be worked out privately between Cohen and his wife.

And how would Gaetz know about mistresses if no one had told him? He didn’t have those connections to Cohen.

What we do know is that Cohen is going away in March to serve a 3 year term for bank fraud, tax fraud, lying to Congress (in regards to the Trump Tower Moscow project), and campaign finance law violations.

Some have pointed out that he has previously been found guilty of lying, which they say makes him a liar, in total.

To be sure, he’s not a good guy, but as he has stated, his lies were in protection of and at the direction of Donald Trump.

He has cut those ties, and has nothing left to lose.

We await the fireworks, but in the meantime, aren’t there laws against what Gaetz did?
