Here Comes the Boom

Here Comes the Boom June 30, 2021

And here we go!

Those of us who have paid attention (and cared) knew that the corruption of Donald Trump and his brood would not go unanswered for always. As I’ve pointed out on numerous occasions, the gilded toad’s downfall was his arrogance and his quest to up his brand, at the expense of our republic.

Yes, he managed to win the presidency (once), and in doing so, built a godless, anti-American, anti-Constitution cult. He built a cult so rabid, that they actually attempted to overthrow our government, in service to him, on January 6, 2021.

What he also did was put a white-hot spotlight on his personal and business dealings, which have been, for most part, born of dubious legal shenanigans. He flew under the radar, a B-list celebrity, at best, corrupt and despicable, but only on the local level. He could have lived out the rest of his miserable life that way, as far too many in his position do, but his greed and ambition got ahead of anything resembling good judgment.

Trump and his crew spent four years burning bridges and rubbing people the absolute wrong way. Now the party is over and the piper expects payment.

On Wednesday, a report out of the Wall Street Journal suggests that the Trump Organization, along with its Chief Financial Officer CFO Allen Weisselberg could see charges from the Manhattan District Attorney’s office on Thursday of this week.

Weisselberg is the subject of a criminal tax investigation by the office of Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance Jr. (D). Prosecutors are reportedly looking into whether benefits given to Weisselberg and other executives were represented in the company’s financial record-keeping system and if the company paid taxes on those benefits.

The New York Times previously reported that the probe into Weisselberg was entering its final stages. A grand jury has reportedly been hearing evidence against the organization’s longtime executive, and prosecutors are said to have obtained his official tax returns.

Weisselberg is serving as the first block to be tapped out in this game of legal Jenga. Depending on what specific charges Vance and his office level against him, the possibility of his flipping evidence against his boss, Trump, looms certain. The charges against the Trump Organization could very well serve as the spiderweb that ensnares the former president, along with his three oldest children: Don Jr, Ivanka, and Eric.

If you listen to Trump’s former “fixer” and personal attorney, Michael Cohen, there is enough evidence already in the hands of the Manhattan DA to make his indictment a solid bet.

For now, we wait. If you’re a Trump, you wait and sweat. His ambitions, and even his current state of deranged, senseless rambling, as he lashes out at the current administration, his former enablers, and anyone he sees as insufficiently loyal will not turn back what is coming.

Or maybe he’s just laying the groundwork for an insanity defense?
