Should we go ahead and start the betting pool, in regards to CNN anchor, Don Lemon, and whether he, or anyone in an executive position with the company will walk back Lemon’s incredibly callous, hateful, racist statement on Monday?
This went beyond race baiting. If what is uttered from the mouth is from the wellspring of our hearts, then Don Lemon is simply a racist and there is no place in this nation for racial hatred.
Isn’t that what we’re continuously bombarded with?
It’s correct, certainly, but it has to be all-encompassing. If you condemn hatred of one group, but allow it for another group, then you’re not just a racist, but a hypocrite, as well.
Race-based animosity is either all bad, or not bad, at all. I know which one I believe to be true. Somebody needs to put Lemon through a racial sensitivity class.
Ok. So what am I going on about?
It started innocently enough, as an exchange between he and his fellow CNN anchor, Chris Cuomo.
“I keep trying to point out to people and not to demonize any one group or any one ethnicity,” Lemon said to fellow CNN anchor Chris Cuomo during a handoff of their respective programs late Monday. “But we keep thinking that the biggest terror threat is something else, someone people who are marching, you know, towards the border, like it’s imminent.”
“And the last time they did this, a couple hundred people came and they — you know, most of them did get into the country, most of them tired — you know, got tuckered out before they made it to the border,” he continued.
I don’t disagree with him.
I mean, I understand why there are people concerned over our broken immigration system. Our resources in the United States are already stretched. How much longer can we even support our lawful, legal citizens, when so many of them have made entitlement programs a career?
Yeah. I said it.
We’ve got so much dysfunction with our system, that the idea of taking on thousands of foreign citizens and absorbing them into our bureaucracy is depressing.
What we don’t do, however, is dehumanize those who feel so desperate in their own countries that they feel their only option is to escape and attempt to settle with us.
Mr. Lemon could have been home free if he’d left it there.
He couldn’t help himself.
“So, we have to stop demonizing people and realize the biggest terror threat in this country is white men, most of them radicalized to the right, and we have to start doing something about them,” Lemon concluded. “There is no travel ban on them. There is no ban on — you know, they had the Muslim ban. There is no white guy ban.”
Dude.
We have to stop demonizing people – except for white men. We can totally demonize them.
If hypocrisy could cause someone to lock up, Don Lemon would have choked on his own tongue, right there for the CNN viewers to witness in real time.
Every noble word or point that he’d hoped to make was canceled out with that one, incredibly stupid, hateful comment.
Maybe in Lemon’s twisted worldview, white men don’t qualify as “people,” which makes him worse than just a racist.
This is where the wannabe intellectuals/sure-thing liberal bigots try to tell me that white men can’t be victims of racist thought, because they’re “in power.”
This is also where I say, “BULL!”
Racial bigotry can and should be expanded to encompass any belief or action that belittles or insults another, based on their race.
By saying, “white men” Lemon let his biases run free, and there is no way to twist this to make it seem less insidious than it was.
As I said, either race-based animosity is all-bad, or not bad, at all. A decent society does not leave room for any of it, towards any of its citizens.
And imagine this: What if it were Andrew Cuomo saying, “We have to stop demonizing people and realize the biggest terror threat in this country is black men.”
How fast would he be fired?
On Tuesday, several conservative viewers made it a point to call out Lemon on social media.
Don Lemon: “I keep trying to point out to people not to demonize any one group or any one ethnicity.”
Don Lemon literally seconds later: ": "We have to… realize the biggest terror threat in this country is white men."pic.twitter.com/M8ffxbiUjO

It’s a good point to be made.
Don Lemon was wrong, and CNN should address the open bigot they have on their staff.
