Pray For The Children

On Tuesday 17 May 2022, Independent.co.uk reported about a 20-year-old Mississippi woman, Makaylia Shaylynn Jolley who was charged with capital murder for allegedly throwing her eight-week-old, Khalysie Lashay Jolley onto the road. Authorities were repeatedly called on 12 May, reporting that “a woman had repeatedly and forcibly thrown a baby on the roadway at 775 N. Bierdeman Rd”. Makaylia Shaylynn Jolley is no different to St. Germaine Cousin‘s stepmother, Armande de Rajols who ill-treated little Germaine for 17 years. Saint Germaine Cousin, who died at the age of 22 and whose feast day is on 15 June is the patron saint of abandoned people, abuse victims, child abuse victims, against poverty, disabled and handicapped, people, girls from rural areas, illness, impoverishment, loss of parents, shepherdesses, people disfigured by disease, physical therapists.

In his morning meditation in the chapel of the Domus Sanctae Marthae on Children’s day on 14 Nov 2014, Pope Francis said “looking at the future, looking at a promise, looking at the world that’s to come”.

Through this Novena, may we ask St. Germaine to intercede for all the children who are victims of abuse.

NOVENA

Repeat the following Novena prayers every day for 9 consecutive days.

O St. Germaine, look down from Heaven
And intercede for the many abused children in our world.
Help them to sanctify these sufferings.
Strengthen children who suffer the effects of living in broken families.
Protect those children who have been abandoned by their parents
And who lives on the streets.
Beg God’s mercy on the parents who abuse their children.
Intercede for handicapped children and their parents.
St. Germaine, you who suffered neglect and abuse so patiently,
Pray for us.

Amen.
