Occasionally I am inspired to write poetry. A nod to Byron Ballard for her inspiring hashtag #BetheWitch. I think I may make a recording of this one if folks are interested.
Be the Witch (I Know You Are)
Be the Witch (I know you are)
Treading upon the earth
Each step a testament to grace
Resounding with reverence
Fortified by presence of mind.
Be the Witch (I know you are)
Every word spoken carefully chosen
Selected for its deeper meaning
Intoned with your essence and
Sanctified by sound.
Be the Witch (I know you are)
Listening to the hum of the world
Like a spider and her web
Feeling, sensing, seeing
Every vibration of the thread.
Be the Witch (I know you are)
Knowing fingers that work worn edges
Turning over leaf and stone
Assembling the mysteries
That have been known.
Be the Witch (I know you are)
Touching symbols and tools
To divine future paths
Turning over card and rune
A gaze from the past.
Be the Witch (I know you are)
Dancing on liminal hedges
Navigating between the worlds
Wrapped in cloak of darkness
Yet crowned by light.
Be the Witch (I know you are)
A luminous numen of
God and animal
Embodied vessel of flesh and spirit
And sibling of stars.
Be the Witch (I know you are)
Weaving together blood and lore
A vision of confidence and creature
Moss-made, antler-adorned
Myth and magick made alive.
Be the Witch (I know you are)
Keeper of wisdom
Beautifully bound by secrets
Revealing the truth of the world
With every kiss of earth.
Be the Witch (I know you are)
Confident, watching, knowing
Residing in roots and flowers
Flying with the moon and tides
As above and so below.
