Yes! Voigt and Terfel as Brünnhilde and Wotan!

Yes! Voigt and Terfel as Brünnhilde and Wotan! 2017-03-17T18:56:15+00:00

The NY Metropolitan Opera, 2010-11 season.

“…some of the cast for the Met’s new production of Wagner’s four-opera “Ring” cycle that Robert Lepage will direct starting in the 2010-11 season. The soprano Deborah Voigt will sing Brünnhilde, a role her loyal fans have been hoping she would take on. And the tenor Ben Heppner, who, like some fine Tristans before him, had drawn the line at tackling the vocally punishing role of Siegfried, has agreed to sing it for the Met. Finally, the powerhouse bass-baritone Bryn Terfel will be Wotan.”

Yyyyyes! This is the baby! Fausta, we have to get together and see this one!

It’s not my absolute favorite, but to hear Voigt sing Brünnhilde against Bryn’s Wotan? Gimmee! I’d love to see her do Tosca to his Scarpia, too!

I’ll tell you what, folks, if I’m still blogging by then, I’ll organize the get-together…but you have to attend the whole cycle! ;-)
