The Dominican nuns at Summit, NJ have welcomed a new novice, this week, and apparently have another postulant coming soon, which will fill up their novitiate!
A nice problem to have, isn’t it? Not enough room for new vocations? If they’re going to keep growing, however, they really need some help getting some repairs done to their house. Their incredible artisan soaps and lotions help with the day-to-days but these repairs are hugely expensive, and with money so tight, the donations have not exactly been flying their way — if you can help with a small donation, I know they would be very grateful!
Speaking of new nuns, here’s some delightful news for those of you who have enjoyed the work of Rosalind Moss, and have been following her interesting journey: a Jewish woman traveled from the Evangelicals to Catholicism, the Catholic Answers apologist and EWTN talk-show host, Moss felt called to form a new religious order —The Daughters of Mary, Mother of Israel’s Hope. Now, emerging after having spent some formation time with the Visitation nuns of Tyringham, MA, and having undertaken study of various Rules, Moss’ community is now, officially begun, and she — having adopted the Rule of St. Benedict for its guide — has been clothed in the traditional habit of a Benedictine nun and in religion will be known as Mother Miriam of the Lamb of God.
Doesn’t she look radiantly happy and beautiful? You can get the whole story with more pictures, here
And by the way, the Tyringham nuns? They’re also filling up with new vocations. They only have two novitiate cells left!
More Nun News:
The All Saints Sisters of the Poor, a formerly Anglican, now Roman Catholic community of nuns (and they have a novice!) are hoping to supplement their cardshop earnings by offering a charming-looking calendar for 2012 — it’s just ten dollars.
Which reminds me, the Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration are selling popcorn!
