“You see what is bulging on the sides of the bottle are nails. Many, many nails,” said Robert Ayers, a security expert who was shown the pictures by the American ABC News channel last night.
“And the nails are put there so that when the bomb goes off, the nails will tear tissue and kill people in the area. Bombs don’t kill by concussion. Small bombs, they kill by the blast effects of fragments of glass or metal, and this is designed to kill people.”
In case anyone was in doubt…yes…it’s designed to kill people. Not soldiers, not “warriors,” just people like you and me, going about their business, trying to do the best they can.
Michelle Malkin has more and you know she’ll be all over it. Meanwhile, Ed Morrissey is writing that Egypt, in the face of this week’s attack, is beginning to rethink its habit of excusing terrorism.
You know…after the 7/7 attack on London, I related that I felt that although the attack was a truly awful thing, I also felt like perhaps something – a complacency – had been jarred, that out of this tragic circumstance, we might finally see real change happen. It does seem that changes are coming, in Europe and now in the Middle East.
In the Gospel we read about the Angel and the healing waters at the pool of Bethsaida. The waters could bring healing…but only AFTER they had been stirred.
I don’t mean to say that I think the attacks are good things or necessary things. Only that sometimes good can come out of bad things.
